Goin To The Beach

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I so can’t wait for the weekend to get here because I get to leave the snow and go play on the beach!! Two whole days of (hopefully) sunshine and sand (yea!!!!!), inbetween helping a friend after her surgury.

She will need a bit of help while she is out of it from the painkillers and I get to leave the mountian for a couple of days and spend a little time while she is asleep going to the beach. Yea for me, bummer for her, but she will be happier once she heals up.

Tonite Is Oscar Night

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

So the Oscars are on tonight, and all of the Hollywood giltteraty are getting sucked into their dresses and tuxes, and putting on all of their warpaint just so we can all ogle them on the redcarpet. It should be entertaining to watch and see who looks scary and who looks fabulous and of course to find out who wins the little gold man.

I personally am voting for Mickey Rourk to win because I loved him back in the day when he stared in Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man it was vastly entertaining, and he has made a great comeback this year in his new movie The Wrestler, (even with the awful plastic surgery).

Quiet Day

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

Well another week gone by, and the end of February is almost here. The skies are overcast and gray but no rain or snow is falling yet to darken our day.

Maybe, if we are lucky Mother Nature will give us a reprieve this week on trying to bury us in what feels like about 10ft of snow (although, it is only like two and a half feet). As much as we all love the pretty, pretty white snow I am starting to have a craving for spring. But that is a long way off yet so there are still several weeks left for those that don’t live in the snow to come visit us and enjoy the novelty.

Hwy 18 Is Clear and Ready For Travelers

Friday, February 20th, 2009

We have a nice little fire lit here in the office this evening, it is cozy and warm makes me wish that we had some marshmallows to roast.

The road crews have finally gotten Hwy 18 clear and open for all the travelers. With the roads open it makes it alot easier to drive up here for a quick weekend of play in all the massive piles of snow that good old Mother Nature decided to bless us with this week.

It is the perfect time to come as who knows how much longer we will have all this snow as spring could appear any day now.

Colusa Pines Cabin

Colusa Pines Cabin

Another great home we have to offer is Colusa Pines, also very reasonably priced for these tough times in the economy.

The Colusa Pines Cabin can sleep up to eight people.  This one has charm all its own and the Brady Bunch would be a perfect fit here.  This is a one bedroom with a large loft upstairs.  The bedroom downstairs has a king bed, and the loft has six twin beds perfect for all the kids (or group of friends) to have a big slumber party!

This house is situated very close to the Bear Mountain Ski Resort, and not far from Snow Summit Ski Resort either.  This home also has an awesome yard for sledding, snow ball fights and building snowmen, so if you’re a family or group of friends looking for a fun, inexpensive home close to the slopes, this is the place for you!

Perfect Snow For Families

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Its so pretty out today after the large storm we had at the begining of the week. There are huge piles of snow all over the place that are just great for the kids to play in making snow people and snow forts. Perfect for the parents that would like to bring their families up to see the snow and to tire the kids out without much effort, so they can enjoy a quite evening while the little ones are asleep.

Returning Guest To Rustic Romance Cabin

The Secluded Feeling At The Rustic Romance Cabin

The Secluded Feeling At The Rustic Romance Cabin

Well, I just made a reservation for a past guest who stays with us at least once a year. He books Rustic Romance every time. He brings up his family, and he says that his favorite thing about the cabin is, of course the view.

This cabin lies approximately 100 yards from the lake, in a secluded neighborhood of Boulder Bay. He loves that the hot tub sits behind the house off the deck where all you see is a panoramic view of the beautiful lake.

Winter time creates an especially unique atmosphere, with the snow and cold all around you, while you stay toasty warm in the hot tub.

So what’ya say, isn’t it time to make your reservation to see the views Big Bear and Gold Rush Resort Rentals have to offer?

Stunning Day!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

It is absolutely stunning up here today!  And it has actually started to warm up a little bit after our storm.

Monday night brought record low temperatures for the season at negative 1.6 degrees.  Word is that we are also well above the winter average snowfall for the season with over 100 inches, the typical snowfall is approximately 70 inches.  And there is more on the way!  More white goodness is expected to fall next Monday through Wednesday.  What a winter this has been.

The conditions at the ski resorts are epic and the town is as beautiful as ever, so get on up here and enjoy it with the rest of us!
