Art in Public Places…

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Keri Smith is the author of the book Guerilla Art Kit and I have to tell you what an inspiration she has been to me!  This is far from Graffiti and visually assaulting our beautiful views!  No this is more like “Random Acts of Kindness” and serendipitious delight.

She suggest you leave books at doctors offices or on a park bench so someone can “find” it!  Leave little happy messages in books at the library!  Use chalk to write on the sidewalk for someone to see! And don’t forget the ever popular “Seed bomb”…This is my favorite!

All YOU need to do to make a “seed bomb” is use native “to the area flower seeds”, mix it with three parts compost and five parts powdered red/brown clay and some water!  Form it in a ball about the size of a penny!  Let it dry and then drop them in empty lots or places that need some beauty!  As it rains, nature will help you out with your happiness spreading!

Up here in Big Bear we believe in happiness in the mountains!  So come on up and share yourself with us!

I have some great suggestions on where to stay, so give me a call!

B’s Boathouse Barbeque

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Boaters will be excited to know that B’s is now open, and the beach bar provides the perfect backup to experience local musical talent as well was up-and-coming new bands.

Boaters have easy access to a dock (with an impressive 40 boat slips for patrons) right in front of the restruant to drop in for dinner or drinks.

You can relax on the beach or participate in a friendly game of bocce ball or billiards. The entire family can lounge on the lakefront, eat lunch or listen to music while participating in a game of volleyball or horseshoes. And the best part? you can even call in- orders from your boat.

Cooler Temps. In Big Bear – Come On Up and Enjoy!

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Well the summer has officially kicked off up in big bear lake.  As the temps rise into the upper 70s to lower 80s, and with those temps the lake warms up for water skiing and wakeboarding. The campgrounds are fresh and clean, the off road trails are dry, it’s the perfect time to escape the heat from down in the valley.

Take a picnic down by the lake and listen to the waves crash into the shore, it’s like therapy. If you’re fishing it doesn’t matter if you catch, it’s just nice to be out there, well you can rent your own boat or your own cabin for a day or the weekend, and come relax and cool off ….sf

Went fishing today right off Metcalf Bay…

Friday, June 26th, 2009

I went fishing today with Bre from our office.  We got up early, well, early for us and headed on down to our fishing hole!  I want to tell you about my fish, but I didn’t catch one…Bre, on the other hand, did catch a nice trout!

We could only go out for 2 hours because I had to work, but I ate the trout for lunch, and headed on into our office!

I am sitting here waiting for your call with a happy and full tummy!

Did I tell you that we went fishing right outside the door of Metcalf Bay Beauty one of our rentals!  It is a great place to fish and a quiet place to stay!

If you fish, and need to do so at any moment, then Metcalf Bay Beauty is the place for you!

Give us a call or check out our website!

We will Truely Miss Michael Jackson

Friday, June 26th, 2009

It’s a very sad day in the world today. We have lost a great humanitarian and a world widely known musician “Michael Jackson”.

He was well known as the fifth member of “Jackson Five” and even at the age of ten Michael was well on his way to being a superstar.

The “King of Pop” was born in Indiana in 1958 and then when Michael was eleven the Jackson’s moved to Los Angeles to pursue there career in music. Dick Clark saw the potential in this family and put them on American Bandstand where thousands watched and were hooked. From there the “Jackson Five” career took off.

Michael later went solo and proved to the world that he had what it took to be the best. Michael’s album “THRILLER” is still the most records ever sold.

He will truly be missed and remembered for his music and kindness and loyalty to his family, friends and fans. In honor of Michael we here at Gold Rush Resort Rentals are offering a mid-week special on one of our homes called Michaels Place.

If you book Michaels Place for 5 consecutive nights Sunday-Friday you will get it for $89 a night. This special does not apply for holidays or week-ends.

If you would like to see pictures of Michael’s Place click this link to enter our website.

For more info give me a call at 1 (800) 363-8303 we will truly and dearly miss Michael and my prayer’s go out to his family and friends and fans.

We love ya Michael, God Bless….Bre

June 26, 1925-Gold Rush!

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Wellllll, actually June 26, 1925 the Charlie Chaplin movie, “Gold Rush” was released!  Couldn’t let THAT movie go by with out mentioning it!

Did you know that here in the Big Bear Valley numerous movies and TV shows have been filmed, many to do with the beauty and splendor of the mountains!  Quite a few of these movies helped establish a place for Hollywood Notables to come to, to escape the city!

Why don’t you come up the hill and escape the city heat and hustle!  I would love to find a place for you!

Susan
