Friday The 13th

Friday The 13th

It is the second day of the triple threat for 2009 as some would call it the second of the three most feared days of the year, Friday the 13th!

Isn’t it great?!

Such a rare occurrence happens only once every 11 years, the first one for this year was last month in February and the third, and last, will happen in November.

Nobody is quite sure where the link between bad luck and Friday the 13th started but there are a few ideas. It may have started in Biblical times when the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus, and in the Middle Ages both Friday and the number 13 were considered bearers of bad fortune.

Where or when it started is unknown but today the superstition permeates modern society.

Here are a few fun facts related to Friday the 13th:

1. Paraskavedekatriaphobia and Friggatriskaidekaphobia are better known as the Fear of Friday the 13th. If you have a fear of the number 13 you would be known as having Triskaidekaphobia.
