Moosey’s Log Cabin

Mooseys-Log-Cabin

Mooseys-Log-Cabin

Now this cabin has a special place in my heart, it was the cabin my family stayed at when they came to visit me here in Big Bear for the first time since I had moved here.

Moosey’s Log Cabin housed us all so nicely. I have a large family, two older brothers, one with a girlfriend, the other with a wife and three kids, throw my parents and my boyfriend and I into the mix, and you’ve got a house full, but we were very comfortable in this three bedroom.

I was even able to bring my dog, this being a pet-friendly cabin with a nice, large fenced in backyard. We were kept well entertained as well, with a pool table, a foosball table, flatscreen TV and DVD player.

Moosey’s Log Cabin is also very centrally located, only a half mile from the swim beach.. We rented a pontoon boat from the local marina and just had a ball.

I would highly recommend you check out Moosey’s Log Cabin if you want a fun, comfortable stay with your family!

The Moonridge Animal Park Zoo

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Moonridge Animal Park is a unique animal park that is the only Alpine zoo in the USA that specializes in alpine wildlife.

The Zoo is the only one in San Bernardino County and was founded in 1959 after a series of forest fires that devastated the natural ecosystem of the San Bernardino Mountains.

Several animals were brought to safety for rehabilitation and a chance to be released back into the wild. But for some that were too badly injured to survive in the wild a 2.5 acre parcel of land located at 7,068 ft elevation in the same indigenous sub-alpine conifer forests became their new home and the site of Moonridge Animal Park.

A 30 pound black bear cub that was found stranded in a tree after the fires was one of the first permanent inhabitants of the park, along with mule deer and bobcats.

In 1960 a 50 year lease on the land enabled the park to grow into a zoological facility. Today there are more than 150 animals and birds that represent 85 different species that call the park home.

The zoo is open yearound so bring the kids and come visit the animals that are native to this area.
