There’s Gold in them their hills!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

I would personally like to thank our home owners for attending our Gold Rush event May 30th.  Many of you enjoyed panning for gold with the High Desert Gold Diggers.

They seemed to inspire us to want to join a prospecting group.  I promised to get some info for you so you can join a group in your area.  Well, here it is!

The site: www.icmj.com/clubs-associations-govt-agencies.php will get you to a great list of clubs.  Just click on your state.  (I am sorry but there was no short cut for that address)!

www.goldprospectors.org is a GPAA (the guys from TV) site that gives you local chapters.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO “DO” THE BUZZARD SPECIAL.  The magazine is good, but lots of ads.

I Googled:  prospecting clubs California and got quite a few hits.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, buy equipment until you have been to a few meetings/outings.  Most things can be had USED, at a greatly discounted price.  Most clubs have outings and invite guests…you use their equipment to see what you really want.  I know lots of people with stuff they “needed” but don’t use!

Any questions, please call me, I would love to help you find your way into mining!

There is gold here in Big Bear!

Big Bear History-There’s gold in them there hills…

Most folks know that Holcomb Valley is the place where gold was mined and taken from the mountains.  Did you know that many people still have claims up there and mine today!  I know this for a fact, as I am a miner!  I belong to two mining groups in the high desert and they both have claims up here!

I must tell you that it is slim pickins, or should I say hard diggin, but you can  bet there is flour gold and a few pickers right here in our valley.  A friend of mine from the desert area told me of a place he found to find some little nuggets.  Ok, I am listening now!  Sure shootin, we will be going to that area in a few weeks.  I will let you know how it goes.

Mining is hard, dusty, dirty work in the mountains.  But I will tell you that when you see that shine in the bottom of your pan, you just keep digging!

The Discovery Center can give you mining information and I will be happy to assist you with reservations so you will be able to rest your weary head.

Give me a call!
