Hello everyone! I am the newest addition to the Gold Rush Resort Rentals crew. I’m very excited for this great opportunity to work with such a wonderful collection of people. From the owners, to reservationists here in the office, right down to the ones working in the field, everyone has greeted me with such warmth and compassion. It already feels like I’m part of the family. I’m so thankful to be here and hope things just keep getting better!
I started on Wednesday and Lynnette had me going over procedures, daily tasks and checklists. Yesterday I started answering the phones and today I was out in the field cleaning. There has been some major differences in the way I’m used to do things, but I’m good with change and needed a fresh new outlook on things. I’m pleased to be here and can’t wait to be considered one of the troops!
So this being my first blog I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Sara and I have lived here in Big Bear my entire life. Attending school from kindergarten to graduating senior year, I now reside here with my husband and two children. I love Big Bear and have an extensive knowledge of the area and activities we have going on here. I’m usually involved in these activities here in town and have so much fun participating! I look forward to sharing more with all of you in future blogs.
~Sara

One of the best things about Big Bear has to be the fact that it’s a drive to destination.
Many people may not realize it, but Big Bear is actually a four season resort. The winter is obviously best known for its skiing and snow boarding and many guests come here in the summer to play on the lake and get away to cooler temperatures of the mountain.
But Spring and Fall are still Big Bear’s best kept secret. Many hikers, fisherman and mountain bikers have found out that the Spring and Fall is prime time for a visit!
Although currently the rates at the Gold Rush Resort Rentals are by far cheaper than usual, after the labor day holiday, you are treated to much greater reduced rates. The temperatures are still excellent and the lake is open and less crowded. So check out Big Bear in the fall or spring if you want to experience the full beauty without the crowds.

Well, we just finished our big event! I finally got to meet some of the owners that I talk to on the phone! What a great group of owners we have!
We had some of the best BBQ-tri-tip and chicken Shane could muster! Great salads and desserts!
We panned for gold…and BB’s as well as had a Dutch Oven demo! Some folks have asked for the recipe, so here is the
DUMP CAKE DUTCH OVEN RECIPE…
Ingredients:
1 29 oz. can of sliced peaches
one small can of crushed pineapple
1 box of yellow cake mix (just dry)
2 Tablespoons butter
Dump the peaches and pineapple into a Dutch Oven and mix. Dump the cake mix evenly on top of the fruit.
Drop pieces of butter over the top of the cake mix. Using 16 coals on the top and 12 coals under the Dutch oven, cook for about 40 minutes or until brown. Be sure to occasionally rotate the Dutch oven to avoid scorching in one area. Serve warm, right out of the oven
(You can make this in a conventional over in a rectangular baking pan at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.)
Hope to see you soon!
Susan
