Friday, June 12th, 2009This Sunday June 14, 2009 is Flag Day in the United States of America!
Flag Day was officially established by the Proclamation of President Woodrow Wilson on May 30th, 1916. Some state and local communitites celebrated Flag Day – the anniversary of the Flag Resolution of 1777, but it wasn’t an organized effort.
While Flag Day was celebrated after Wilson’s proclamation, It was not until August 3rd, 1949, that President Truman signed an Act of Congress designating June 14th of each year as National Flag Day.
Most Americans let this day pass as any other day! Let’s get those flags flying everyday and display them correctly! We are a proud and mighty nation and we need to keep those flags flying!

Memorial Weekend
Friday, May 22nd, 2009Memorial Weekend is upon us and there’s a lot for visitors to do.
This weekend in Big Bear is a yard seller’s paradise. Every year my family and I go to yard sales all over the valley, looking for great bargains and deals.
Most of the yard or garage sales are listed in our newspaper which makes it easier to make a plan and route.
Also, this weekend the Convention Center is doing their annual Spring Air Home & Garden Show with 40-50 vendors including a petting zoo and game booths for the kiddies, Jewelers, Wood sign carvers, Popcorn shirts, Candle makers, Spa’s for sale and landscapers. And for the first time ever there will be a live Psychic to read your future. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and children 12 and under are free for more info call (909) 585-3000.
