18.69 pound trout caught May 24, 2009
BIG BEAR LAKE IS AN ANGLERS PARADISE!
WOW, don’t let anyone out there say there’s no large fish in the Big Bear Lake.
If anyone had that on their minds before the last few weeks the anglers fishing in the lake sure proved them WRONG!
Three out of the four largest trout in Big Bear Lake was caught in only a nine day time span. On May 16, during the Jim Hall Memorial May Trout Classic, a trout weighing in at 13.83-pounds was caught. Just two days after that a 14.58 pound trout was caught while fishing from a dock. During the Memorial holiday weekend, a new trout record was made by landing an 18.69-pound rainbow trout fishing near the Bear Valley Dam, May 24.
This is an incredible kick off to the summer we are expecting in Big Bear! We think Big Bear Lake is the place for all anglers in 2009. With a kick off like that things can only get better!
Looks to us that it really doesn’t matter whether you are trolling on a boat or casting a line from a dock or the shoreline, anglers would be smart to try their luck by making a trip to the San Bernardino Mountains and Big Bear Lake.
If you want to make a weekend trip out of it give us a call, we have all types of cabins at affordable prices. Some on the lake, near the lake, only walking distance to some Marinas for convenience.
