Fine Dining In Big Bear

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Are you looking for somewhere to eat in Big Bear?

Let me give you a couple of suggestions. If you’re looking for fine dining then you want Captains Anchorage, The Bistro, Mandolins, or Evergreens.

Looking for something a little cheaper try Alpine Coffee Shop, The Lumberjack Café or Thelma’s. Maybe you’re looking for Chinese. Then you want Pong’s Oriental Delights or Mandarin Gardens.

Looking for sushi, Fuji (yummo). Maybe you want Italian, Maggios. The best pizza, subs and pasta on the mountain. And if you want Mexican then you want to go La Montana’s, La Paz, or Sonora Cantinas.

Fast food we have a Mc Donald’s, Jack In The Box, Carl’s Jr. with a Green Burritos and a Sub Way, Quiznoes, and Taco Bell. We also have an I Hop, Denny’s and Little Caesars. I hope this has been some help to you.

Bon’ Appetite….Bre = )

A Few Good Places to Eat!!!!

B’s Backyard Barbeque

B’s has arguably the best location in all of Big Bear. Situated right on the lakefront with it’s own private beach, it is THE place to be, especially on the summer weekends when the outdoor beach party is non-stop.

There’s something for everyone, the kids and adults can splash in the water, everybody enjoys the bbque food, and an outdoor bar will even keep you refreshed without you ever having to go inside.

There’s a beach volleyball court set up for anyone feeling ambitious. You can even bring your dog!!  Those wanting to avoid the sun can go inside and still enjoy a great view of the lake along with B’s B-que menu.

A magic touch of Parmesean Potatoe Chips that will automatically appear on your table and keep reappearing! B’s bar is one of the friendliest in town, and you’ll find some good bargains with their all day happy hour specials on weekdays. 909-800-7650, www.bsbackyard.com

Grizzly Manor Cafe’

One of our favorite restraunts in Big Bear is a small “hole in a wall” diner that’s only open for breakfast and lunch.

The Grizzly is known for huge portions of simple home cooked foods. Their pancakes are so large they fall off the plate. They also offer about a zillion different kinds (ok not quite a zillion, but close).

The burgers are as macho as a burger can get. There’s always a fresh pot of hot coffee ready. It’s all served with a hefty side order of local color and commentary by owner Jayme Nordine.

If you sit at the counter of the Grizzley Manor long enough, you’ll probably meet everyone of any importance who lives in these parts- from the garbage collector to the mayor.

After one visit you’ll be a regular too, just like all the folks that come to Big Bear to visit and head directly to the Grizzley Manor Cafe’ upon returning!!! 909-866-6226, and real simple to get to on the Blvd, at 41268 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear Lake,92315

Remember it is located on the corner!!!

Fuji Japanese Cuisine

If your taste is leaning towards Asian, head to Fuji restaurant.

For special evenings, sit at the teppan grill for a made-before-your-eyes feast where chef Sam entertains while he cooks. You’ll gasp at his displays of culinary acrobatics including flying knives, spinning pepper mills and somersaulting eggs. Somehow everything ends up right where it’s supposed to be and a perfectly prepared meal appears before the hungry diners lining the grill’s perimeter.

I’ve eaten many a meal at these types of restaurants- and Sam has some moves that I’ve never seen before.!!

Not in the mood for anything so elaborate? Belly up to Fuji’s sushi bar for all your favorite fish, or get a table and order off the extensive Japanese menu!!!

Get The Burger

COMING SOON!!!! Yummy Burgers, the location on the corner of Big Bear Blvd, and Fox Farm, diagonal from the Kmart shopping center!! Famous Burgers with secret sauce!!! Kinda reminds me of In-N-Out, but better for a town like us in Big Bear!!

Go on a nature walk or be a people watcher. Browse thru the village and get an ice cream from the northpole fudge company or catch the latest movie at one of our theaters. There’s always something hoppin’ in Big Bear.

Have dinner at one of our wonderful restaurants like Captains Anchorage (they have the best clam chowder) or Maggios for some great Itailan food. So give us a call @ 1 (800) 363-8303 or go to our website @ cabin411.com to make your reservation today……

Another Place to Venture While in Big Bear!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Big Bear Valley is compiled of many different areas, one of my favorites being Fawnskin.

The town of Fawnskin is located on the North Shore of Big Bear, and offers a cute and quaint alternative to the hustle and bustle of the more populated Big Bear Lake.

In Fawnskin, you will will find restaurants, shops, anitque stores, and of course the other side of the lake. I would highly recommend taking a drive into Fawskin during your trip in Big Bear.

For more information about this adorable place, you can go to www.fawnskinchamber.com.
