Paradise is only a short drive away!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

One of the best things about Big Bear has to be the fact that it’s a drive to destination.

Many people may not realize it, but Big Bear is actually a four season resort. The winter is obviously best known for its skiing and snow boarding and many guests come here in the summer to play on the lake and get away to cooler temperatures of the mountain.

But Spring and Fall are still Big Bear’s best kept secret. Many hikers, fisherman and mountain bikers have found out that the Spring and Fall is prime time for a visit!

Although currently the rates at the Gold Rush Resort Rentals are by far cheaper than usual, after the labor day holiday, you are treated to much greater reduced rates.  The temperatures are still excellent and the lake is open and less crowded. So check out Big Bear in the fall or spring if you want to experience the full beauty without the crowds.

Are You Looking For Fun?

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

When looking for family fun activities year round in Big Bear the Magic Mountain Recreation Area is the place to go.

During the summer there is a cool wet water slide and in the winter it is turned into a fun snowplay that the whole family will enjoy. You begin with a scenic chairlift ride to the top, and from there riders will navigate their own individually controlled sleds.

The sleds will take you down your choice of two quarter-mile long cement tracks that are filled with high-banked turns and long straightways. Parents can join in the fun too or enjoy soaking up the sun on the spacious lawn or two sun decks. The area’s double water slide operates during the summer months, taking riders down two twisting and turning flumes filled with refreshing, cool water, before dumping them with a splash into the heated pool at the bottom.

Every Season In Big Bear Is Wonderful!

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Some of the locals here seem to be getting tired of shoveling and the hazardous driving conditions, but me, I am thouroughly enjoying the town covered in the a thick blanket of snow.  But that could also be due to the fact that I have a good man at home who does all our shoveling and I am by nature an extremely cautious driver.

There is something so special about living in the mountains, and all the beautiful things nature brings, that many do not get to experience.  Although, you can.  All you have to do is come visit.

Every season here in Big Bear has something great to offer.  Many only think of Big Bear as a ski spot, but now would be a great time to start making those reservations for spring and summer, even fall will be creeping up on us soon.

Spring is beautiful, with the snow melt, brings the gorgous bloom of the flowers.  Summer makes for a wonderful time on the lake with water sports and great fishing.  Fall is cozy, as the leaves start to fall and the cold is starting to make its way into town.

I’m telling you, no time is a bad time to come to Big Bear!

Happy Groundhogs Day!

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

So, I heard on the radio this morning, as I was driving back to Big Bear from Dana Point, the fat furry Phil saw his shadow today. Which means we are looking at another 6 wekks of winter, yea!!  Hopefully that means we will get some more snow up here on the mountain.

It was a beautiful drive up the mountain this morning, I got to watch a gorgeous sunrise over the mountains and enjoy a peaceful drive while reflecting on the great game that we got to watch for the Super Bowl yesterday. The Cardinals put up an admirable fight, but, I was happy to see the Steelers prevail.
